Jack Hunter

60 seconds with Jack Hunter, Business Manager

How long have you been with Silver Cloud?

Four glorious years and counting!

You’ve just been promoted. What was your former job title, and what is your new one?

I’ve had a few: Trainee, UC Consultant, and most recently Business Manager.

What does your new role involve? What are the main differences from your old one?

My new role brings more responsibility and accountability, as my sales targets are a lot higher (they’re almost double what they were when I started). I’m able to achieve higher sales because over the last four years I’ve built and managed my client base, as well as adding more new business every month.

What is the biggest challenge you face in your new role?

The biggest challenge you face in telecommunications (especially sales) is people’s view of the industry as a whole. The stereotype is shiny-suited salesman who will disappear in a puff of smoke after the customer signs the contract. That certainly isn’t the case here: we consult businesses on a variety of different technologies, and work with them throughout their time as a customer.

What are you reading at the moment?

The Young Team by Graeme Armstrong – a fantastic book for anyone that grew up around that era.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?

It’s got to be someone like Elon Musk, to hear about all of his eccentric plans for the future. Technology is something that I am passionate about.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I’m obsessed with music. I’ve been a bedroom DJ for the last 13 years of my life (and I’m only 25). I also love mountain biking, walking, and of course a cold pint with the boys at the weekend.
