Calum Campbell

60 seconds with Calum Campbell, Logistics Coordinator.

What attracted you to Silver Cloud?

The role itself excited me: it is fast paced, energetic and comes with a ton of responsibility. I was also really impressed with Silver Cloud’s clear plan for growth for the next few years. Really exciting times ahead, and I can’t wait to contribute and be a part of it!

What are your impressions so far?

A young company that is thriving with great people at the core of it. All of that has made my transition into the company really enjoyable.

What is your job title?

Logistics Coordinator.

What does your role involve?

My role involves the procurement and delivery of hardware and services for installations, and maintaining our existing customer base. I also take responsibility for stock management, to ensure that orders are fulfilled on time and in full. There’s also an internal aspect: I ensure that each team in Silver Cloud has what they require from a logistical point of view.

What is the biggest challenge you face?

I have a lot of logistics experience, but not in IT/Telecoms. So it’s been a bit of a learning curve getting familiar with all the equipment (past, present and future!). Technology is always evolving, of course. So, I suppose keeping up with the industry might be one of the biggest challenges.

What are you reading at the moment?

I’m not a big reader, but I am podcast daft, so I’ll always put on a podcast whenever I can. Favourites at the minute are ‘Dissect’ and Song Exploder’. ‘Dissect’ takes you through albums track by track: the process of writing and recording them, and all the stories behind each track. ‘Song Exploder’ is the same concept for individual tracks. It has introduced me to loads of artists I wouldn’t have thought to listen to.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be?

Brian Cox. I would love to pick his brain about all things astronomy-related: what is out there in the universe.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

A passion of mine is music. I play guitar and bass in several bands, and still record and play live on a regular basis. I also like to stay active by playing golf, tennis and football.
