Ryan McGarry

60 seconds with Ryan McGarry, Relationship Manager at Silver Cloud…

What attracted you to Silver Cloud?

Initially Silver Cloud was a client of mine: I recruited their Finance Director, Lachlan Smith. I was very impressed with the way they operated. I then got to know them better after several meetings and informal chats, and when the job offer came I was very happy to take it.

What are your impressions so far?

I’m really enjoying it. I am not going to lie – I’m on a steep learning curve. They’re giving me the support I need, though, and everyone has been great. They’ve made me feel very welcome. The office is amazing, and I imagine that there will be a great buzz when we are all allowed to get back in there.

What is your job title?

Relationship Manager

What does your role involve?

I have three main responsibilities: relationship management, new business and recruitment. (Before I joined Silver Cloud I spent ten years in recruitment, specifically in accountancy and finance.)

What is the biggest challenge you face?

I thought it would be Covid, but I was wrong! Getting on top of all of Silver Cloud’s products and services has been a lot of work: I have been really busy since day one with training, and talking to all the company’s specialists and engineers. I am glad to say that it was only about three weeks before I got my first client, so I guess I must have met the challenge pretty well.

In five years where do you see yourself?

I hope to have a team, and be a key part of the company’s management.

What are you reading at the moment?

I have just finished ‘The 5 Second Rule’ by Mel Robbins. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be more productive, both at work and at home.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

Robin Williams. I’d want him to know how much joy he brought to the world. Sean Connery. I think he would have some great stories. And Megan Fox. Just because!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Anything outdoors: climbing, cycling, runs and walks. I love traveling, DIY and films too (my favourite three are Gladiator, The Lost Boys and Back to the Future). And, of course, just spending time with my family and friends.
