Oakbank Dental Care: a superfast response when lockdown loomed

The background
Oakbank Dental Care is an independent dental surgery that serves both private and NHS patients. It has four dentists, two hygienists and eight other members of staff.

The challenge
The practice had two lines and a basic phone system. Over time, it had realised that it was paying more than it needed to, for a system that didn’t meet its needs. In fact the system was a serious barrier to running the practice efficiently.

The Practice Administrator, Pauline Davidson, called us in to see if we could improve things.

Our solution
After we had taken the time to fully understand the problem in detail, it became clear that several things needed to be done.

The phone system had to be replaced with one that had the necessary features, such as remote access and voicemail. The new system also had to give a professional image to the practice’s patients. And it had to be easy to use: as Pauline put it, “We’re technophobes.”

We had to cancel the existing contract for the phones, and also the one for the internet connection, which was with a separate provider. Having a single supplier for everything made things much easier to manage.

We took responsibility for all of this, and installed the new system in November 2019.

The result
Normally that would be the end of the story, but in March 2020 Oakbank became aware, along with everyone else, that the corona crisis would have serious implications for their business. They asked us to make some changes to their system to help people work from home.

Pauline says: “Within 24 hours of my call, Silver Cloud had set everything up. They were very professional, and talked our staff members through all that was required, which made a very bad situation so much easier. We are so grateful that we had Silver Cloud on board at that crucial time.”
